It soon comes round. Can you believe that Lisa Wigfield has been our Community Cohesion and Outreach Worker for almost three years? MCCP trustees are working hard to secure grant funding to enable her to remain in post for the next three years. We already have over 50% of the necessary funding from the Methodist Circuit, Diocesan Grants Committee and the URC Yorkshire Synod Mission which are all happy to continue supporting and funding Lisa’s work with the Manor community. However, we still need to secure just over £47,000 for peace of mind for the next three years. We are currently in discussion with new grant funders about fulfilling this role.

At the same time, we are applying for funding to replace the two leaky flat roofs at the back left-hand side of Temple Park Centre, install a new suspended ceiling in one room to replace a water damaged ceiling and find urgent ventilation solutions to improve the air quality for all users throughout the centre.

It’s been wonderful to partner with MASKK this past year as MASKK installed a new kitchenette to support children in their activities and a new bespoke soft play frame in the building. Together we’ve also installed a new set of front doors (that won’t leak when it rains) and new fire exits and accessible external pathways that meet updated fire regulations.

Check out our latest video where Lisa and Claire (trustee) talk about plans for the next three years. We’re calling it ‘The Branching Out’ project, to build on the amazing work Lisa (and Simon Loveitt before her) did to ‘prepare the ground’ and ‘plant seeds’ in building relationships of trust with local people and partnerships.

Please consider giving towards these community initiatives and improvement projects. Just click on our DONATE HERE button on the home page or contact us if you know of grant funders who would look favourably on an application.

Pop in to our Thursday Club, we are a very welcoming group. We have a variety of crafts activities, games or just pop in for a cuppa and a chat. We serve breakfast sandwiches from 10-11.30am, endless cups of tea and coffee availble through out the day.

our Lunch Club is for anyone over 50, if you are interested please get in touch with Lisa, details below.

Revd Lucy Sablan has been appointed the next Team Rector for Manor Parish. Six months into her new role, it is envisaged that Lucy will also be made a Residentiary Canon at Sheffield Cathedral. The link with Sheffield Cathedral will lend her and us increased support and a wider network of resourcing opportunities.

Lucy is currently Senior Leader of St Leonard's Community Church (BMO) at Arbourthorne, where she will retain oversight. The church will still be served by Revd Britt Webb, who will continue as Curate there.

Lucy will be licensed in February at St Swithun's Church; more details of that will follow.

We are delighted to welcome Lisa Wigfield, our new Community Cohesion and Outreach Worker to our team. Lisa will be working across the Manor community and alongside our partners (old and new!). You may get to know her when you pick up your children from MASKK or bring them to a dance lesson at Temple Park Centre. She'll be present at our craft activities (watch this space, new dates coming very soon!) or chat with you at a local group. She is very approachable and looks forward to getting to know you.

We look forward to working with Lisa and to re-shape the relationships and partnerships with local people and organisations.

Rachel Maidment, Biffa Award Grants Manager, said: “Now more than ever it is so important that we continue to invest in community spaces, like the Temple Park Centre, which will provide a place for people to meet and socialise as we come out of lockdown and life returns to some sort of normality. By re-configuring the space, providing new lighting, flooring and redecorating throughout, Biffa Award has made a huge difference to those who will use this building on a regular basis.
